PRIVATE RADIO AND TELEVISION StatIONS
" Radio Mosaïque ", the first private radio in Tunisia, launched its programs in November 2003. A second private FM-radio station, " Radio El Jawhara ", was launched from Sousse, on July 25, 2005. The signal of the new private station covers the east-central part of the country . On the other hand, the first private satellite TV channel « Hannibal TV » launched its programs in February 2005. Other private radio and TV stations are expected in the future.
The creation of private radio and TV channels materializes the commitment taken by President Ben Ali «to open up the media landscape to the private sector» and to enlarge the prerogatives of the Higher Communication Council, empowering it to examine potential applications in view of the creation of private radio and TV channels
