African Center for the Training of Journalists and Communicators (CAPJC)
Inaugurated on February 2, 1983, the African Center for the Promotion of Journalists and Communicators (CAPJC) is a public institution whose mission includes :
- Organizing activities related to the continued training and promotion of journalists and communicators, through national and international training sessions and seminars ;
- Carrying out studies and research aimed at improving professional techniques, introducing modern working methods, and mastering news ICTs;
- Producing and diffusing publications or productions that can help the Center achieve its objectives.
The Center is the partner of many institutions, including Friedrich Neumann Foundation (Cooperation agreement signed on December 14, 1983 in Tunis), and the African Center for training in publication and dissemination. Besides, the Center collaborates with UNESCO, ALECSO, ASBU, USIA, and the European Union which has just entrusted to the Center its project for the training and promotion of Tunisian Journalists, as part of the EU-Tunisia partnership.
The Center has organized about 400 training sessions or seminars benefiting more than 6,000 participants from 77 countries.
The Center is a founding member of the Theophraste network of the Francophone centers for training in journalism (headquarterd in Lille, France), and of JourNet, the international network of journalism schools under the aegis of UNESCO. It publishes an electronic newsletter about its activities.
